Routing, network cards, OSI, etc. I think they are easy to find: I guess there is a lot of 3c out there even more then PC-XT’s available so if someone did a port it would be used to get alot of vintage NIC networking, i can see it is not much code but probably alot of knowledge that would have to go into it.
It is doable in some cases, for example some programs would automagically detect Sound Blaster interrupt. Even in other XT clones. One with Etehrlink 83c chip, the other one with smc 83c They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.
