Appears to be a question of signing the kernel extension: I have an open bug with Apple. However, I think the order of the commands should be reversed.
This is fixed in Mac OS I haven’t run diagnostics to see if it is getting appropriate speeds or anything of that nature, but it seems fine so far.
The solution of reloading the driver via the terminal works! Adapter runs fine on first connect. Hope this helps someone else as well. Go to original post. I wish I had found your post earlier.

Thank you for your interest in this question. Best solution I found is to reload the driver by hand.
